As the Founder and Creative Director of MAYstudio, Štěpánka Pivcová specializes in designing fashion that celebrates and enhances the curves of women. With a focus on elegance, she has taught Czech women how to wear luxurious cashmere coats and crafted an iconic inauguration outfit.
Moreover, she had the privilege of designing a simple and elegant dress for Mrs. Eva Pavlová for the reception preceding the coronation of Charles III in London in May 2023.
In her current project, she designed modern formal attire for members of the Czech Sokol community from July 2023 to February 2024. This project blends traditional elements of Sokol costumes with contemporary design, reflecting current fashion aesthetics while respecting Sokol's history and values. She developed four comprehensive concepts, secured fabrics, managed production, and implemented strategies for online sales, ensuring stylish and high-quality clothing for Sokol members accessible to the wider public.
As a designer, Š. has over 20 years of experience working with brands such as Pietro Filipi, ragwear, and Horsefeathers. Her work has encompassed not only design but also trend forecasting, fabric and accessory selection, mood board creation for collection photoshoots, presentations to buyers both in-person and online, as well as team leadership in implementation and sales.
Štěpánka has experience in production management and project management, covering all aspects of the industry from concept to completion. Her expertise spans the entire field of fashion, from the ground up including experience as an apparel buyer for brands such as Nike, Adidas, The North Face, Calvin Klein, and others for Footshop during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, she was launching her own brand, MAY, and needed stable employment that did not solely focus on design, allowing her to channel all creativity into her own brand.
By the way, she has a passion for numbers and Excel!
